Why are the burmese pythons a problem in Florida, but not their native Asia?

In Florida, Pythons compete with native wildlife for food, which includes mammals, birds, and other reptiles. Severe mammal declines in Everglades National Park have been linked to Burmese pythons. In Asia the ecosystem is already balanced for the python and other animals.
