What are the differences between lanthanides and actinides?

The differences between lanthanides and actinides are numerous. First of all lanthanides have the ability to show a maximum oxidation of +4, while actinides have a wider variety (+3+4, +5, +6 and +7). This also means that actinides can form complexes easily as opposed to lanthanides. Lanthanides don't have color, but actinides do. Lanthanides are not radioactive but actinides can be.
