Farmers are running a business. They need to make a profit to stay in business. If they use chemical fertilizers and their crops grow well and the cost of the fertilizer is less than the profit on the crop, then they are well satisfied. If, however, they decide to use organic fertilizers (and can obtain them) they will need to obtain more for their produce to be well satisfied. That is why "organic" produce is more expensive than nonorganic. (whatever that means: all things are organic than grow.)!
