where is the energy absorbed from in the reaction of barium hydroxide and ammonium thiocyanate??

Since the chemical reaction of barium hydroxide and ammonium thiocyanate is endothermic, the energy must be absorbed from the surroundings. If the reaction would have been extothermic then energy would not have been absorbed but given off.
