As the world is increasingly getting transformed into a multi religious, multi-ethnic, multi-lingual societies the print media should be more careful while publishing any write up whether it is Op-Ed piece or any other thing. So the newspaper cannot disown its responsibility on the pretext that the item has been written by somebody other than the editor or columnist who does not belong to the newspaper. Ultimately the Editor is responsible for all the content published in the newspaper.

There are two ways to look at your question in terms of giving you a correct answer.Firstviewpoint is from duty:The role of the Media is primarily to give out information regardless of whether it is initially correct or not. There is provision for retracting a false or libelous publication as is normal with common sense.2nd view point is about resposibility:Responsible journalism however, does crosscheck facts of information whether opinion ed or news before publishing such.Infact your media will be held in high reputation, if it is always giving accurate and correct information with falsehood less than 30%.No media can really achieve 100% factual information since they too are human beings subject to mistakes.
