Shaw's work, Mrs. Warren's Profession was actually banned from stage for almost eight years. Finally it made its debut in London in 1902, after having been written in 1893. The Miraculous Revenge, a short story by Shaw, was written in 1885 and predates Mrs. Warren's Profession.
