z+2x=23

z+2x-2x=23-2x

z=23-2x

2z + 3x = 44

2(23-2x) + 3x = 44

2(23) (2)(-2x) + 3x = 44

46-4x+3x=44

46-x=44

46-x-46=44-46

-x=-2

-x/-1=-2/-1

x=2

z=23-2x

z=23-2(2)

z=23-4=19
