x - 2y = 26

x - 2y+2y = 26+2y

x= 26+2y

2x - 3y = 43

2(26+2y) - 3y = 43

2(26) (2)(+2y) - 3y = 43

52+4y-3y=43

52+y=43

52+y-52=43-52

y=-9

x= 26+2y

x= 26+2(-9)

x= 26-18=8
