x + 3y = 17
x + 3y-3y = 17-3y
x= 17-3y
- x - 2y = - 10
- (17-3y) - 2y = - 10
- (17) (-1)(-3y) - 2y = - 10
-17+3y - 2y = - 10
-17+y= - 10
-17+y+17= - 10+17
y=7
x= 17-3y
x= 17-3(7)
x= 17-21=-4
