Melanie is baking a cake. The recipe calls for 9 cups of flour and 2 cups of sugar. She already put in 3 cups of flour. How many more cups of flour does she need to add ?

9=total number of cups of flour needed
3=number of cups she has put in
x=number of cups she needs to add
3+x=9
3+x-3=9-3
x=6
