Brenda and Sam are going to stay at the hotel for 1 night. It costs a total of 84 pounds to stay at the hotel for 1 night. Brenda pays a deposit of 20 pounds towards the total cost. Brenda says to Sam, 'We will share the total cost equally.'

Room costs 84 pounds.

Brenda and Sam each have to pay 42 pounds.

Brenda has already paid deposit of 20 pounds. She owes 22 pounds.

Sam owes 42 pounds.
