Why was the French and Indian war significant to the American revolution

The French and Indian War led to the colonists befriending a very important ally..... the French. It also contributed to the taxes levied upon the colonist by Parliament to pay for the war. Thus, the colonists were unhappy with the taxes (taxation without representation), and the French were unhappy with the war's outcome, the rest is history.
