Did the Internment of Japanese Americans make World War II more racist?

Racism was alive and well before WW2 but the Japanese internment put a spotlight on just how quickly Americans can espouse racist views under the guise of national security, fear, and nationalism. Unfortunately, history has a way of repeating itself.
