Wish You Well by David Baldacci

Louisa's family was going to move to California because they were having money problems. On their way, her father is killed in an accident, and her mother is taken to the hospital. She is catatonic. The children, Louis and her brother, are then sent to Virginia to live with their great-grandmother.
