why are modern linguists not satisfied with the traditional grammarian classification of words into parts of speech? what criteria do the suggest to classify words into words classes? answer with eg.

The arguement about whether or not traditional grammarian classification of parts of speech is valid or not continues to be an ongoing discussion. 'Parts of Speech' in and of itself is misleading because there are many more parts to a language than just componenents or word categories. The newest suggestion is that linguists use classifications such as categories and these lexical categories are the same thing, essentially, as the parts of speech.
