Steve is an aging roadie who has been assigned to look after Johnny Marinville on his latest publicity and writing adventure. Steve is a decent sort of man, who surprises even himself by his bravery in this horrible experience. Steve cannot believe what is happening, but after seeing the dead people at the ranch, and the spiders and snakes everywhere, he learns that extraordinary events are surrounding him. He is very protective of Cynthia, who is younger than him, and eventually they begin to realize they are attracted to one another.
