Who is Schwester Marie from War in Val D'Orcia, 1943-1944 and what is their importance?

Marie Schwester was the La Foce community's resident nurse. She assisted the Marchesa with her newborn daughter and cared for the refugee children. Over the course of the war, she took responsibility for all the elderly, the sick, and the wounded that tookrefuge with the Val d'Orcia community.
