Rusty Ingraham was once a lawyer with the District Attorney's office. Ingraham and Hardy shared an office in the DA's office, but were not close friends. However, Ingraham shows up and tells Hardy that a criminal who threatened to kill them both when they successfully prosecuted him nine years ago is getting out. Hardy senses his fear and allows it to overtake his natural instincts when he finds a dead woman on Ingraham's barge.
