Who is Rhiannon from The Mabinogion and what is their importance?

Rhiannon is Prydreri's mother. Her first husband was Pwyll. She is later married to Manawydan.

Rhiannon seems to come from the Otherworld and is associated with horses. She also owns a flock of magical birds, but is never seen with them.
