In their book The Oil Road (Verso, London, 2012, pp. 230), James Marriott and Mika Mino-Paluello mention Mother Huru in a list of bandits who opposed the feudal landlords and had popular support among the peasantry. They also refer to the writer Yeshar Kemal (They Burn the Thistles, William Morrow & Co., 1977) in this context. I too am curious to find out more, particularly about Mother Huru.
