Who is Lynne Rabinowitz from Meridian: A Novel and what is their importance?

Lynne is a wealthy, Jewish woman. Over the course of the novel, she marries Truman and accompanies him back to his southern home, where she is raped by one of his friends. Lynne's marriage falls apart, after which, she eventually loses her daughter.
