Johnny is tall man who once was very attractive to women. He was a famous and talented writer, but his cynical outlook on life and failure to accept responsibility has made him old before his time. On a search to regain his belief in life and in himself, Johnny has embarked on a motorcycle trip across the country. Fate leads him to a remote and ugly stretch of US Highway 50, where he encounters an evil spirit intent on destroying the world. Johnny is a reluctant hero in this story, making inappropriate comments and failed attempts at humor while the rest of his companions are trying to protect each other and survive.
