Johnny LaGuardia is a lieutenant for mobster Angelo Tortoni. Johnny is responsible for collecting the vig or the interest on loans that Tortoni has made to people in the community. As part of his job, Johnny often breaks arms and legs. Johnny works alone. Therefore as long as he has the proper amount of money, no one cares where it comes from. Johnny uses his position to forces a girl named Doreen to have sex with him while forcing Ingraham to pay extra to cover Doreen's vig. When word of this gets to Tortoni, Tortoni has Johnny killed, setting up an ex-cop to take the fall.
