Ernest Hemingway (1899 - 1961) was an American writer and journalist. Hemingway served in World War I as an ambulance driver and was seriously wounded. He worked in Spain during the Spanish Civil War as a correspondent. He also spent time during World War II as a war correspondent and was present during the Normandy landings on D-Day. Hemingway later wrote about his experiences in various military conflicts. His writing style often has been described as infused with a journalistic sensibility. Hemingway is today considered one of the greatest English-language writers of all time.
