Rachel Amira is a mathematician who works for EES. Rachel is a young, beautiful woman who happens to have an amazing intelligence. Amira once had an affair with Glinn, but Glinn ended the relationship when it got good because he was afraid it would eventually fail and he cannot deal with failure. When EES takes on the meteorite mission, Amira is assigned to be McFarlane's assistant, to watch him and report to Glinn. Amira quickly falls in love with McFarlane and refuses to continue with the reports.
