Who is Daniel Keath from Moccasin Trail and what is their importance?

Daniel Keath, better known as "Dan'l", is Jim's younger brother. He was just a toddler when Jim left home and is eleven when the family is reunited. Dan'l wastes no time accepting his older brother back into the family and is the first to do so. He is described as excitable and playful.
