Aaron Lightner is a British representative from the Talamasca. He presents himself as an old world gentleman and has a way of making people feel at ease. He can read minds, which helps him to collect information about the Mayfair family. He translates and summarizes the entire Mayfair history in the mid 1950s. His goal is to present the information to the Mayfair family, and allow them to decide what to do with the information. Aaron also wants to fight the powerful spirit Lasher. His first attempts, however, end with Cortland almost killing Aaron. He continues to watch the family for many years, waiting on the right time to approach them again.
