What irony can be found in Langston Hughes, Salvation?

In Salvation, irony can be found in the fact that Hughes' "salvationfrom sin" was based on a lie. Hughes sheds tears because he lied to the congregation. He didn't see Jesus, and though he regrets not seeing Jesus, he has now lost all faith in Jesus existence.
