What connection does Cofer make between the home movie and her dreams? In what ways is the movie dreamlike? In what ways does the essay become more nightmarish as it proceeds?

In the essay, Silent Dancing, the author talks about a movie that was taken at a New Year's Eve party when she was a little girl. At the end of the movie is a conga line...but because of the time in which it was filmed, there is no sound. She uses this as a metaphor for her and her family's lives as they attempt to acclimate themselves to a new country, a new way of life, and trying to decide which part of their heritage is worth keeping and what does no longer serve them well.
