What are some examples of ways that The Outsiders, Chapter One, could have been written differently, going from the 1960's to 2018?

Changing the setting from the 1960s to 2018 wouldn't be a difficult thing to do. Gangs still exist, though, petty crimes might be replaced by drug dealing, gang initiations, and technologically advanced weapons. Other kinds of technology would also come into play.... think about the propensity of today's youth to video everything they do, as well as the ability to instigate gang warfare using social media.
