The narrator and Cécile go to the woods to be alone together, a place where for the young lovers, the rest of the world disappears.... a place they can escape their otherwise violent reality. The woods particularly transport the narrator. He focuses on the beauty of his natural surroundings and his deep feelings of happiness when he is alone with Cécile. While here together, the narrator and Cécile look out over the hillsides, hold hands, embrace, and kiss.
