In act 3 the two tell King Claudius that hamlet's sadness is caused by?
When Claudius questions Rosencrantz and Guildenstern they tell him they haven't been able to find a reason for Hamlet's depression. They do, however, comment on Hamlet's interest in the play that will be performed that evening by the traveling players.
