In the poem Teenagers by Pat Mora, How does the speaker feel about teenagers?

Poem:

"One day they disappearinto their rooms.Doors and lips shut, and we become strangersin our own home.I pace the hall, hear whispers,a code I knew but can’t remember, mouthed by mouths I taught to speak.Years later the door opens.I see faces I once held, open as sunflowers in my hands. I seefamiliar skin now stretched on long bodiesthat move past meglowingalmost like pearls."

The speaker laments the loss of their child to adolescence. The drastic changes that that the teen goes through cases them to separate themselves from the speaker. They can still recognize their child but there is change in behaviour.
