In the book The Guardians by John Christopher, what are some examples of social stratification?

Social stratification is the study of class or privilege, or status that pertains to a certain culture. In John Christopher's book, The Guardians, England has been divided into two separate places. ONe is a place where landed gentry rule and enjoy a luxurious lifestyle. The other place is called Conurb which is a very bleak place where violence and poverty are rampant.
