critical thought piece

hey..can anyone help me understand how can I write a critical though piece (which I think is pretty much like an argumentative essay) with elements of compare-contrast essay??

basically, I'm not quite sure I can do it without makingthe whole piece look just like an argumentative essay or compare-contrast essay..not sure I can do both..even tried asking guys from http://writers.stackexchange.com/ and http://acewriters.org/ for a piece of advice but nothing so far from them..thanks for any help
