Brian loses consciousness after the crash. Where is he when he first revives, and how does he feel?

When Brian gained consciousness he was on the shore near a lake, feeling incredible pain and frustration. He also had a great deal of trouble accepting the reality of the crash. There were moments he believed it was all a dream.... and then he would realize where he was and come to realize that it wasn't.
