Who is George Shearer from Zoot Suit and what is their importance?

George is a public defender, who is assigned to represent the pachucos in court. He is describes as middle-aged, athletic, strong, competent, and dedicated to his clients. Although the future of the case looks bleak, George refuses to give up on Henry and the gang. Unfortuntely, he is drafted and sent to war before the trial is over. His associates, however, take over the case and win their release.
