Dari’s clothes that Zahrah wears into the jungle are another representation of her character growth. At first, they give her some comfort because they remind her of Dari. This allows her to constantly feel that she is doing the right thing, even as the terrors of the jungle threaten to overwhelm her. Once reaching the gorilla village, however, Zahrah has experienced substantial character growth, but also dealt with terrible pain. By shedding the old clothes - and, therefore, accepting the new version of her - Zahrah is able to move forward with cherished memories and new determination rather than clinging to the past that she has outgrown.
