Zelda is completely unprepared for how grand the city is compared to Montgomery, and is immediately awestruck by New York’s commotion and grand buildings. Zelda comments, “A place like this could only be built by angels” (72), as she feels that New York City is a place of great beauty. Aside from its beauty, Zelda enjoys the excited energy of New York, and even states, “I might never leave” (74).
