Who is Saif in the novel, Youngblood?

Saif is the commander of a contingent of Iraqi troops that move in to the outpost. He and Jack quickly strike up a partnership and agree to help one another along. Despite their closeness, Jack has difficulty fully trusting him due to him being an Iraqi. Saif is a loyal soldier and is highly protective of his men, volunteering to go in their stead when raiding the mosque. He loses his legs in the raid on Dead Tooth, and gives his Glock to Jack.
