How does Mungo describe James after their first meeting in the novel, Young Mungo?

In his first encounter with James, Mungo notices that “his ears stuck out like two pale cabbage leaves and he wore [a knitted fisherman’s cap of deep navy-blue] above them… He had a shock of dirty-blond hair and there was a look of the outdoors about him… He reminded Mungo of a farmer: purposeful, solitary looking” (75).
