How does Ruby react when she learns the truth about her mother's identity in the novel, Young Jane Young?

When Ruby finds out that her mother is Aviva Grossman, she becomes furious. She calls her mother a "slut" and refuses to look at the situation from her point of view. Ruby reacts so strongly because she has just learned that her whole life has been a lie and so she undergoes a crisis of self.
