When the narrator first sees the girls, he sees only two of them. One of them is a red head, and she stands out to the narrator from the beginning. At the end of the story, the redheaded girl is the only one of the girls to express politeness and kindness toward the narrator. She even, after meeting him, waves to him from a car as they pass by one day.
