Clothes symbolize a growing discomfort on Liz’s part with the transformation Gabi tries to push on her in order to win prom queen. Liz is most comfortable in her casual clothes, and so she dislikes wearing the flouncier outfits Gabi puts together. As Liz grows more secure in who she is, she realizes that she wants to win the title of prom queen while staying true to who she is rather than changing everything about herself to fit in.
