In meeting another queer teenager who is interested in similar styles of music and dress, she feels more connected to herself. Liz has struggled throughout her high school experience to feel connected to those around her because she has always felt like the odd one out. In meeting Amanda, these feelings of not belonging fade to a distant hum and Liz is able to blossom into her true self.
