What is the real cause of Peach's death in the novel, You?

Joe kills Peach at Little Compton when she leaves her beach house and goes for a run. He weighs her body down with rocks and puts her in the ocean, believing that her body will never be found, but it eventually washes to shore. It is believed that Peach killed herself. Murder is never suspected.
