Where does Linton meet Cathy and Nelly in Chapter 26? Why does he meet them at this location?

Cathy and Nelly embark on their trip to Wuthering Heights in late summer; they are to meet Linton at the crossroads between the properties, but he is not there and his messenger tells them that Linton wants them to come closer to the Heights. Linton is weak and ill, much worse than the last time they saw him, and appears unable to have traveled further.
