What is the importance of the Mersyside Police Station in the novel, Wrong Place Wrong Time?

The Mersyside Police Station, located in Crosby, is where the police take Todd after his arrest. In that scene, Jen and Kelly are forced to wait in a waiting area while Todd is processed. Jen goes here again when she travels back in time. In that scene, she tells Leo and Ryan about the car thefts, therefore preventing the kidnapping. This is also the police station where Ryan works. It seems to be an ordinary building for the place, time, and purpose.
