Why does Casey feel her interview did not go well in Chapter 43?

Casey gets caught up in discussing writers and literature. She talks about her approach to teaching, which is based on how works of literature make students feel rather than about literary structure. When the administrator points out that students still have to pass exams based on structure and reach common core standards, Casey feels like she blew it.
