Muriel calls Casey excitedly to tell her that she loved the novel. She has taken notes and compiled several pages of them for Casey to review for revisions on the work. Muriel suggests that Casey include a referenced rape scene in the action of the story rather than having it happen offstage, and pushes her to dig deep into her inner feelings of shame about her father to write the scene.
